MIQ GENERAL INFORMATION

Q: How long has MIQ been in existence?
A: MIQ was founded in 1959 with the efforts of Monsignor O’ Doherty,
Monsignor O’ Friel, the St. Peter’s Parish Men’s Club and dedicated
families throughout the community.

Q: What is MIQ’s Mission Statement?
A: We, the Christian Community of Mary Immaculate Queen School
challenge our students to live the church's three-fold mission: living
the gospel message, building community and being of service to
others.
This mission, in combination with our strong academic curriculum,
develops in the student the responsibility for living and promoting a
society rooted in love, service, peace and justice

Q: What makes MIQ special to the faculty, staff, parents and
students?
A: MIQ faculty, staff and parents were asked what does MIQ do well
and the following items were noted (not in any particular order):
⇒ MIQ provides an excellent Catholic education, strong curriculum and
insists on solid study habits;
⇒ MIQ has a cohesive faculty and staff;
⇒ MIQ has five Sisters, more than any other parochial school in the region;
⇒ MIQ actively fosters public speaking skills through, i.e. Class participation
at Friday Mass, Peach Blossom, Christmas Programs, Talent Shows,
Stations of the Cross, etc…;
⇒ MIQ promotes positive interaction between older and younger students
with programs such as reading buddies and school families;
⇒ MIQ has very strong parent involvement;
⇒ MIQ holds Masses every Friday in O’ Doherty Hall for the student body and
community members;
⇒ MIQ offers a safe environment;
⇒ MIQ is family oriented;
⇒ MIQ proactively and continuously seeks ways to improve their faith-based
academic, extracurricular and community programs to assist in graduating
successful and well-rounded students;
⇒ MIQ allows Organized Educational Student Field Trips: i.e. Fresno Zoo,
California Mission, Pumpkin Patch, Capitol Building, California Train
Museum, Trout Farm, Science Camp (Calvin Crest), Washington, D.C.;
⇒ MIQ offers music and choir programs. The MIQ student choir performs at
special events at the school, parish and other approved venues.

Q: Is there a Lunch Program at MIQ?
A: As a service to the parents, MIQ has negotiated with local food
vendors and offers lunches to the students Monday through Thursday
for a reasonable and viable price. On Fridays, K-8 room moms and
MIQ approved fundraising organizations are allowed the opportunity to
hold a lunch with a special menu to raise funds for class field trips,
graduation, etc…

Q: Does MIQ offer after school care for students?
A: Yes. MIQ has an excellent after school care program called
Extended Care Program (ECP) that operates from 6:45 AM to 7:45 AM
and 2:55 PM to 6:00 PM. Call the office for fees and schedule.

Q: Does MIQ require service hours through a parent organization?
A: As a stipulation for attending MIQ, all families of MIQ students are
required to fulfill their obligation of working 40 hours per year at Parents
Association sanctioned fundraising events or approved working days.
These fundraising events are fun, family-oriented events that positively
promote our wonderful school, foster social networking with other
parents and friends of MIQ and help maintain our tuition costs low and
competitive.

Q: Does MIQ require uniforms and where can uniforms be purchased?
A: Yes. Dennis Uniforms is the approved clothing vendor that provides
parents with a variety of uniform choices, including shorts, pants, polo
shirts, sweatshirts, etc… For more information on uniform
requirements, please contact the office.

Q: What is MIQ’s annual tuition schedule for K-8 students in ‘10/’11?
A: First child equals $3,795, with a second child the total tuition is
$6,160, the third child total tuition is $7,755 and the fourth child is
FREE. Tuition payments can be made a multitude of ways and
methods. Registration is $150/student and there is a $25 book fee per
child.
NOTE: The one child family rate is comparable to other private schools in the
region. However, MIQ offers the greatest amount of discounts for the 2, 3
and 4 child compared to other schools in the region. Call for Pre-K info.
